This is a board that won’t take no for an answer. This 11-member limited jurisdiction policy-making board, serving the largest Catholic elementary school in the entire State of Texas, will simply not be deterred by challenges facing so many Catholic Schools. It has met rising costs, competition to secure teaching services, facility shortages, changing student needs, and financial need among families with effective action. Largely due to its efforts, St. Monica increased enrollment to 900 students and enhanced staff numbers, salaries, facilities, curriculum, and technology, all without significant increases. Add to that a new preschool, the creation of a development plan and hiring of a development director, initiation of an annual fund and capital campaign, policy revisions, strategic planning initiatives, and the publication of a stakeholders newsletter to ensure communication and accountability, and you have a world-class board indeed.
