Birthday Blessings For Pope Benedict
A gift of public service from U.S. Catholic youth and students
Blessings for Pope Benedict XVI
In conjunction with the papal visit April 15-20, NCEA has launched a campaign similar in scope to the Child-to-Child endeavor that responded to Hurricane Katrina—but this time seeking service hours in honor of the Holy Father’s 81st birthday, which he will celebrate during his U.S. visit on April 16.
Students in schools, religious education programs, seminaries and colleges are asked to complete or pledge (for completion by May 31, 2008) community service time in the name of the pope. Activities could include programs in which students are already involved, or those that reflect the mission of the Church. NCEA will be the conduit for collecting these community service commitments and for promoting and publicizing the project.
Educational institutions (schools, colleges and seminaries) and parishes will be asked to complete a form listing the number of participants, the hours of service, contact information, etc. A form for individuals will also be available. These forms and other materials will be added to this web site soon. Check back often for updates.
Thank you for your interest and participation.
