Who is the Department of Boards and Councils?
The NCEA Department of Boards and Councils is the part of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) that is dedicated to serving boards, councils, and commissions of Catholic education and their administrators.
Why an extra membership fee? We are already a member of NCEA.
Even if your institution is already a member of NCEA, your entire board, council, or commission will be taken into the NCEA family and receive a whole new array of services as a member of the department. A modest additional fee is required because every member of your board will become a member of NCEA and receive their own personal copies of Momentum journal, Issue-Gram newsletter written especially for boards, and Board News monthly electronic newsletter.
This will save your office countless hours of distributing mail and photocopying articles, and will give all your board members direct access to information that will keep them informed about the latest issues and practices in all aspects of Catholic school leadership. Just announce in the agenda if you want members to come to the next meeting prepared to discuss a particular article.
Who will benefit?
All boards, councils, and commissions can benefit from these services, whether you are a local elementary or secondary, parish, regional, or religious community sponsored school; or a diocesan schools board; or a group with total education or religious education responsibility. Advisory, consultative, and limited jurisdictional boards are all supported.
What is the term of membership?
All NCEA department memberships are for the calendar year: January 1 through December 31. However, new memberships begin as soon as they are entered into the system, and the membership period for the following year usually opens in August. So if you sign up for a new membership in August, you will receive benefits for the remainder of the current year free, as a bonus.
What will I receive?
