Bishop McNamara High School Board of Directors

The 17-member board of limited jurisdiction (policy-making) of this school sponsored by the Brothers of the Holy Cross has been operating for 23 years. It has a clear and consistent vision of the mission and charism of Bishop McNamara which permeates the work and strategic planning of the board and committees. The board sees itself as a “servant leader” of the administration, faculty, and staff, and wears nametags to all events they attend. It seeks to professionalize itself through regular opportunities for in-service training, orientation, and outside counsel.
The facilities planning process assures that they are well prepared and proactive in all areas of facility repair, maintenance, and replacement. The board has utilized a Business Process Review to ensure that the school’s business practices operate to advance the mission in the most efficient manner. The board’s attention to procurement policy and practice; decision documentation; performance metrics; and ongoing assessment and evaluation of best practices in all areas of physical plant growth, maintenance, and repair has led to ongoing institutional growth and development.
Outstanding proactive stewardship, strategic planning, and “best business practices” have allowed the board to begin redesigning a teacher salary and benefits package that will continue to pay 100% of healthcare coverage and, within five years, take them to 90% of the public school scale in the county.
