Immaculate Conception Dardenne School Board
O’Fallon, Missouri

This 15-member advisory board of a K-8 school has been in place for 24 years in a rapidly growing community. One strength is the diversity of professions and skills among board members. It utilizes parent surveys in setting long-range goals, strategies, and quarterly targets. Outstanding accomplishments during the past year have included implementing a long-range goal to increase spirituality in all aspects of school life.
Construction has been a significant project. Coordination and creative thinking by the board allowed a successful, three-phase move to accommodate 500 students and 1,000 PSR students, moving from a campus that was spread between five buildings, including mobile units, to one newly constructed education center. An expansion is already being planned to accommodate population growth.
A Technology Committee with 10 members from various technological backgrounds was formed to equip the new school with networked computers, a Web page with downloadable forms and menus, a voice and email system for the staff, ongoing upgrades and security systems, and a new computer curriculum for students. A full-time Technology Coordinator was hired.
