2005 Outstanding Board Award
Bourgade Catholic High School Advisory Board
Phoenix, Arizona
This 15-member board as been in existence for 22 years. Its members bring outstanding dedication to the mission and a diversity of skills. The board created a 3-year strategic plan that is regularly reviewed and updated by the board and its committees. The personal involvement of board members has played a significant role in many crucial activities, from a school bus accident, to tuition collection problems, to fundraisers, to helping with campus activities, to in-service training. It initiated quarterly meetings of the five diocesan high school boards to discuss common issues.
The Buildings and Grounds Committee was involved with adding 3 new buildings on campus, doing walk-arounds at meetings to assess needs, recommending budgeting priorities, and organizing volunteer workdays that save thousands of dollars.
