Most Holy Trinity School Advisory Board
Phoenix, Arizona
The 16-member advisory board of this pre-S through 8 school has been in existence 16 years. The top five accomplishments of this board in the past year are:
- Organized a Strategic Plan and reporting process. It requires monthly updates and early notification if a goal is in danger of not being achieved. It provides for the board to review and revise the overall plan annually and intermittently if necessary without disruption to projects in process.
- Implemented a development and marketing program, focusing on increased visibility, retention, and improved facilities. Veteran families and board members are matched with new families to establish school relationships and a feeling of community. Increased volunteerism and participation in events have been one result.
- Created a board spirituality program to ensure that each meeting begins and ends with the understanding of why they have been called to this ministry.
- Revised and formalized a board organizational structure that strengthened communication flow, board and committee efficiencies, and community building efforts within the parish and school. They achieve close to 100% participation in diocesan school board training workshops. The structure includes monthly meetings of key committees, mailing of agenda and written committee updates prior to meetings, incorporation of a committee update question and answer forum into meetings, and a formalized minutes process and open forum request form.
- Advancements made in technology. Partnering the technology committee and the new development program has led to upgrades and new technology along with ongoing fundraising to support it. Some improvements include connectivity in each classroom, Web and Internet access, a new phone system, and Smart Boards in 6 classrooms.
