NCEA Catechetical Scholars Program
The NCEA Catechetical Scholars Program is for veteran diocesan and parish catechetical leaders who possess a Masters Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field and who have held a diocesan or parish leadership position for a minimum of five years.
The Scholars Program seeks to provide leaders with an opportunity to:
- Assess their present catechetical efforts
- Learn from nationally recognized theologians and professionals in fields related to catechesis/religious education
- Be directed in designing and producing a scholarly catechetical project
- Re-articulate their vision of catechesis in a way which integrate new learnings and insights
- Take stock of their personal and professional skills as diocesan leaders
- Reflect on their own spiritual growth
The Catechetical Scholars Program IV consists of two intensive week-long seminars offered in the summers of 2008 and 2009. The two seminars will consist of research and presentations by specialists in theology, catechetics and related disciplines.
The first seminar will be held on the campus of The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, on June 22-27, 2008 and the second seminar will be held at Fordham University's Rose Hill Campus in New York on July 12-17, 2009. All meals, lodging and materials will be provided. Scholars are expected to cover their own transportation to and from the seminars.
