BEFORE SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL
Proposal Submission Guidelines
Thank you for expressing an interest in presenting at NCEA’s 2009 Convention and Exposition in Anaheim, California. This site is intended for individuals interested in submitting a proposal to present to secondary school educators who include administrators, teachers, counselors, campus ministers, and others who attend the convention from Catholic secondary schools.
1) Application: After reading the submission guidelines and selection criteria, please complete the proposal application form by following the link at the bottom of this page. The application form requires the speaker’s contact information, including qualifications and co-presenters names if applicable, the intended audience of the session, a recommended title of the presentation, and an outline and abstract of the presentation.
****EVERY FIELD MUST BE FILLED-IN. PLEASE ENTER N/A IF NECESSARY****
2) Session Outline: Please have prepared a one page summary (maximum 250 words) of your presentation that identifies the following:
- Session purpose and objectives
- Session content and main points
- Intended learner outcomes
3) Session Abstract: Please have prepared an abstract of the proposed presentation. The abstract length should be approximately three to four sentences (maximum 100 words). If your proposal is successful, the abstract will appear in the Convention Program (subject to editing). The abstract should be clear, concise and informative about what attendees will gain from your presentation. Please review the selection criteria below when drafting your proposal.
4) Speaker Qualifications: Include a brief synopsis of your qualifications to present on your selected topic. Please provide qualifications for a co-presenter if applicable. Proposals that involve a panel must receive Department approval.
Upon submitting your proposal, you will receive a printable receipt acknowledging your submission. If you do not receive this confirmation it likely means that your web browswer is not configured to allow interaction with a web based form. In that case, please contact the Department at 202.337.6232, x 235, or kendreola@ncea.org.
Considerations Regarding Proposal Submissions
The Department’s review committee will evaluate all submitted proposals. The selection criteria include the following:
- Clarity of session outline, including objectives, content and intended learner outcomes
- Relevance to current trends and perennial concerns of Catholic secondary schools and educators
- Creativity and practicality of the session’s approach to the topic
- Potential to appeal to the interests and concerns of Catholic secondary school educators
Our constituents represent a rich endowment of talent and generosity, but like many of our member institutions, we as an Association have modest financial resources. NCEA is unable to provide stipends for speakers or pay their expenses at the convention. We will be happy to provide presenters with complimentary registration for admittance to all convention sessions.
