Validating the Vision
Validating the Vision provides the basis for school assessment in the context of the school's mission and strategic planning. Schools reviewing their foundation documents including mission and philosophy; undertaking self-study or accreditation; and connecting these with planning will find in this protocol both the content and the process to guide their efforts. Resting on the assumption that the Catholic character of the school is inherent in all aspects of climate, culture, programs, and services, the protocol embeds assessment criteria throughout an analysis of the state of the school and the formulation of the strategic plan. Look for Validating the Vision in the Online Store.
Sharing the Faith
Sharing the Faith is a faculty faith development program for Catholic elementary and secondary schools. The program, based on the conviction that the mission of Catholic schools is expressed in the lives of the faculty, addresses the need for an adult-based, professional in-service that balances personal reflection with community building. It is a proven means of blending theological information, personal reflection and school mission and it is currently on sale. [More information]

Frontiers of Justice
Frontiers of Justice is a teachers’ overseas program co-sponsored by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and NCEA. It is designed to provide a short-term, firsthand experience of the developing world for Catholic secondary school educators. Participants visit a variety of CRS project sites and begin to build solidarity with our brothers and sisters overseas - all within a spiritual context, reflecting on Catholic social teaching. This year's participants will visited Kosovo. View their travelogue here: http://education.crs.org/travelogue/2007/
Department Workshops and Conferences. Please check the Department's home page for information about upcoming professional development opportunities for Catholic high school educators.
Shepherding the Shepherds (Secondary)
A retreat program designed to integrate the school administrators’ spirituality fully with their ministry. The program fosters this integration through a series of exchanges with peers in other Catholic elementary and/or secondary schools. Together they explore the faith-building dimensions of Catholic school leadership. Taking the 2 days for reflection, relaxation, conversation and prayer, they gain new insights and renewed energy for their leadership role. [More Information]

NCEA's Secondary Schools Department offers professional on-site development services for Catholic high schools. On-site development services have made a substantial difference to high schools throughout the country, and can impact dramatically the vitality of your school's development program. Broad research and data summaries of campaigns testify that schools that work with external counsel achieve greater results than those that proceed on their own.
- Development audit, a formal assessment of your development operations. The implementation of the audit's recommendations will result in a stronger institution: a more clearly defined and articulated mission, role clarification and more money raised.
- Capital Campaign feasibility study and campaign counsel
- Comprehensive School Assessment, a broad and thorough review and analysis of your institution followed by salient recommendations. Areas covered include mission, governance, leadership and administrative model, academic and student services, technology, finance, advancement, marketing, and long-range planning.
- Executive Search Service, a consultative service is designed to guide Catholic secondary schools experiencing turnover in the head of school position to identify and select the best candidate.
- On-going consultation at your school is designed to correspond to your institution's life and culture. The format -- a two-day, intensive session at regular intervals -- practically guarantees success to a school planning to launch a capital campaign or establish a major gifts program.
