The Cure for the Common Core Conference - Midwest

Date: Tuesday, July 23, 2013 to Thursday, July 25, 2013
Category: Conference
Description:

Catholic schools across the country are implementing the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools. These standards call for excellence in academic programs and one way schools are ensuring excellence, appropriate challenges, and relevance in their curriculum is by utilizing the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

The Cure for the Common Core Conference - offered three times in different locations across the United States - will assist all Catholic school leaders and teachers in learning more about the CCSS and how to implement it successfully. This conference will be different than other CCSS professional development events, in that the presenters will incorporate the foundation of our common core; our Catholic identity. The workshops will focus on implementing the CCSS in the areas of vocabulary, writing, technology, math and overall unit planning.

Participants will learn from their colleagues and exceptional leaders in education. Time for networking and planning will be provided, as will worship opportunities. Please join us for this unique opportunity to learn, share, and pray with Catholic educators from across the country.

Audiences:

Elementary and secondary school teachers, school and higher education administrators, and school leaders involved in the Common Core Catholic Identity Initiative (CCCII).

Outcomes:

  • Articulate the need for CCCII in your school.

  • Acquire templates to use to design your own teaching units.

  • Acquire strategies to assist you in implementing CCCII in your school.
