General Grants Available to Catholic Educators
The Fr. Michael J. McGivney Memorial Fund for New Initiatives in Catholic Education
This Fund provides grants to stimulate research and projects in the United States and Canada.
In February, 2008, grants were awarded to six projects, in amounts ranging from $12,000 to $25,000, for a total of $100,000. For descriptions of award-winning projects click here.
With the 2008-09 awards, we have completed the three years (2006-2009) which the Knights of Columbus dedicated to new initiatives for Catholic urban and inner-city schools.
Due to the impact of the economic downturn on the funding source, the Mcgivney Fund will not be accepting applications for the 2009- 2010 funding cycle. We hope to resume our normal application process for the following year.

Fulbright Teacher and Administrator Exchange Program
Since 1946, the Fulbright Teacher and Administrator Exchange Program has helped nearly 23,000 teachers and administrators contribute to mutual understanding between the United States and countries around the world.
If you are a full-time U.S. teacher or administrator, you may be eligible to apply to the program.

JAPAN FULBRIGHT MEMORIAL FUND (JFMF) TEACHER PROGRAM
The Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program provides U.S. primary and secondary school teachers and administrators with the opportunity to participate in three-week study visits to Japan and to return home with a follow-on plan designed to introduce Japanese culture to American students. Each year, up to 600 teachers and administrators, including participants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, are selected to participate in the JFMF program.
The JFMF Program features an orientation to Japan followed by visits to primary and secondary schools, teacher training colleges, cultural sites, and industrial facilities. Meetings with Japanese teachers and students and a homestay with a Japanese family are also key components of the program. Participants return home to share their new knowledge with students, colleagues, and the local community, ensuring that more than just the individual participants profit from the experience. As an additional benefit to participants, graduate level credits are also available.

NCEA does not sponsor a national scholarship program. The association recommends that individuals seeking scholarship monies contact arch/diocesan school offices to learn about scholarships and financial aid packages available locally.

"Serving Educators Who Serve Children"
NCEA/Catholic Daughters of the Americas Scholarships for Teachers of Children With Special Needs
Grants of up to $1,000 are available to teachers who are pursuing advanced studies in special needs education. The teachers must promise to share the knowledge they acquired in their courses with the other teachers in the school and they must promise to remain at the school for at least one year following receipt of the scholarship. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas provide the funding for this project. [2010 Application Form]

NCEA Social Justice Education Grants
Grants of up to $750 are available for teachers in a Catholic elementary or secondary school and membership in NCEA who are interested in promoting social justice education. Proposals must address one of the themes of Catholic social teaching. [2010 Application Form]

Secondary School Oriented Opportunities
Toyota Motor Sales, Inc.
Toyota has announced a fully funded professional development program for secondary school teachers to locations around the world.
This year, the program was opened to teachers nationwide.
The program is online at at www.iie.org/toyota. You can use this site to find out complete details, get a timeline, and access the official application.
Applications for the June 2008 program will be available in October 2007 with a deadline of early January, 2008.
