Explanation of Theme

The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2013 is “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards.” The annual observance starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2013 is January 27 to February 2. Schools typically celebrate Catholic Schools Week with Masses, open houses, and other activities for students, families, parishioners, and the community at large.

The 2013 theme supports the recent launch of the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools, that ensure the effective operation and responsible governance Catholic schools across the country, thus promoting high academic standards and Catholic identity. The logo designed for the week illustrates a chart of steady growth culminating in the highest achievement of all, a cross representing the faith that underscores all Catholic education.


Catholic Schools Week Marketing Kit

In support of the National Catholic Schools Week, NCEA and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) jointly sponsor the National Marketing Campaign for Catholic Schools. To help Catholic schools participate in this campaign and to continue the Catholic Schools Week (CSW) celebration throughout the year, every NCEA member institution receives a Catholic Schools Week Marketing Kit as a benefit of membership. The kit includes tested, real-world marketing strategies plus the artwork you need for ads, billboards, and more. It is revised and updated each year and includes the Marketing Handbook, Liturgy Guide, CSW poster, and artwork (logos).

  • The Marketing Handbook gives a day-by-day guide to planning Catholic Schools Week, with examples and stories from Catholic schools across the nation. It includes a section on how to market your school year-round to increase enrollment and community support. Quick facts about Catholic schools in the U.S. and tips to recruit volunteers make marketing your school easier.

  • The Liturgy Guide includes the opening and closing Sunday readings with homilies that incorporate the theme. The daily Mass readings are provided, along with alternate readings based on the theme. Also included are complete prayer services for each day of the week.

  • CSW poster - This poster features the logo and theme and is great for posting in the school in a prominent place. (Extra posters can be ordered)

  • Artwork - Access files allowing you to make ads, billboards, and other items to promote your school all year long. Includes the logo in various formats, plus flyers to print yourself.

The handbook, liturgy guide, and artwork are provided on a CD to dues-paying members of NCEA. Additional copies will be available for purchase for non-member schools and those who want extra copies for only $40 (kit + shipping and handling). The 2013 kit will arrive in member mailboxes in November 2012.

 

Catholic Schools Week Merchandise

Non-member schools and others may purchase the CD and CSW merchandise such as T-shirts, buttons, stickers, pens, and gift items starting in November. CSW Evergreen Theme

The logo and slogan below were first used in the 2006-07 school year. The theme, "Catholic Schools: The Good News in Education," will continue to be used in the coming years as an "evergreen" message (a message that will be used for several years). It will appear on selected marketing materials, including T-shirts, posters, and other items.
