NCEA, along with the whole church, is celebrating the launch of the Year of St. Paul, a special “jubilee year” announced by Pope Benedict to mark the 2,000 anniversary of the Apostle Paul's birth. The special year began June 28, 2008 and will run through June 29, 2009.

Tim was introduced as ‘one of the brightest stars of Catholic education,’" said Karen Ristau, NCEA president. “That meeting was in 2000, but I am confident that Tim Russert’s star is shining even brighter today than it ever has.”

High School Teachers to Visit Burkino Faso and Ghana Six educators from Catholic secondary schools across the nation will participate in Frontiers of Justice June 25 - July 13, 2008, a program designed to give participants a first-hand experience of a developing country while encouraging them to work together in developing strategies and lesson plans that can be brought back to their students in the United States.

Catholic Students Meet Pope Benedict XVI on His 81st Birthday To Deliver Gift of Community Service At 4:45 p.m. on the Pope’s 81st birthday, April 16, the president of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and two students from Washington-area Catholic schools met with the pope to deliver a gift of more than 1.7 million hours of community service from U.S. Catholic youth and students. Catholic Youth Pledge More Than 1 Million Community Service Hours to Honor Pope Benedict XVI on His 81st Birthday Catholic youth across the nation have pledged to perform more than 1.1 million hours of service in honor of Pope Benedict’s XVI’s 81st birthday. The pontiff will turn 81 April 16 during his visit to the Untied States. NCEA asked students in Catholic schools, parish religious education programs, seminaries and colleges to perform service hours in honor of the pope’s visit and birthday. The program was called “Birthday Blessing for Pope Benedict.”
