Arlington, Va. - NCEA President Karen Ristau delivered a keynote address Nov. 4 to a regional meeting of the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada. The two-day meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, drew Catholic newspaper and magazine editors and staff members from the eastern and Canada. Mark Zimmerman, left, editor of the Catholic Standard, newspaper for the Archdiocese of Washington, spoke with Dr. Ristau after the event.
Following her talk on the challenges facing Catholic education, she answered questions on topics including charter schools, regional schools and how to increase financial support for Catholic education. She encouraged editors to continue to report on the success stories of Catholic education.
The NCEA, founded in 1904, is a professional membership organization that provides leadership, direction and service to fulfill the evangelizing, catechizing and teaching mission of the church. NCEA members include elementary schools, high schools, parish religious education programs and seminaries.
