NCEA/Catholic Charities USA Join Hands to Speed Hurricane Sandy Recovery

National Catholic Educational Association and Catholic Charities USA Join Hands to Speed Hurricane Sandy Recovery

Arlington, VA--The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) has partnered with Catholic Charities USA to establish a designated fund to assist the Catholic educational community displaced or affected by Hurricane Sandy.

“All along the East coast, Catholic school and parish facilities were damaged and programs were disrupted,” said Karen Ristau, president of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA).  “And of greater concern, the efforts to restore families to safe and secure living conditions will take months.”

“Schools and catechetical programs across the country have been asking how they can help. Because Catholic Charities already is actively involved in restoration efforts, we at NCEA believe it best to align our efforts with them.  A special fund, the Hurricane Sandy Catholic Education Fund, has been established at Catholic Charities and all gifts to that fund will be used to restore Catholic educational activities,” Ristau said.

Gifts may be made by check or credit card only.  Checks should be made payable to Catholic Charities USA and mailed to: 2050 Ballenger Ave, Suite 400, Alexandria, VA 22314. Note on the check that the gift is for the 2012 Hurricane Sandy Catholic Education Fund.

For a credit card donations, contact Beth Suarez at Catholic Charities, who will take the necessary information to process the gift. Contact Suarez at (703) 236-6248.

Catholic Charities and NCEA will acknowledge the gifts.

Established in 1904, the NCEA is the largest private professional education organization in the world, representing 200,000 Catholic educators serving 7.6 million students in Catholic elementary and secondary schools, in religious education programs, in seminaries and in colleges and universities.
