Arlington, Va.—Charles M. Russell, who began at NCEA this summer as assistant director for the Secondary Schools Department, was appointed executive director of the department. The announcement was made Dec. 11 by NCEA President Karen Ristau upon the recommendation from the search committee, comprised of the officers of the department’s executive committee and two members of the NCEA executive staff.”
Russell has been serving as interim department director following the resignation of Philip Robey.
“We are fortunate that Matt is already on the staff and knows our mission and our members,” President Ristau said. “I’m delighted that the ideal candidate was already here and that we were able to promote from within for this important position.”
The department represents 1,127 Catholic high schools through the country and provides leadership and professional development services for school administrators and teachers.
For the past two years prior to coming to NCEA, Russell was director of tuition scholarship and secondary programs for the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
From 2008 to 2010 he was principal of St. Mark the Evangelist School in Hyattsville, Maryland, and in 2010 was co-head of school for St. Francis International School, Silver Spring, Maryland, after St. Mark the Evangelist and St. Camillus schools merged.
