Catechectical Leaders
Five Workshop Models for Empowering Catechetical Leaders
Since the publication of Empowering Catechetical Leaders in 1999, NCEA's department of religious education has received numerous calls from diocesan and parish catechetical leaders who have found this text to be a valuable resource for the training and formation of new and veteran catechectical leaders.
In light of this and in an effort to support the training of catechetical leaders and utilization of this text, the Chief Administrators of Catholic Education's (CACE) religious education division decided to develop workshop models that can be used in a variety of settings and at minimal costs.
Dr. Frank Lucido, vicar of education and diocesan director, Corpus Christi, Texas, served as the "workshop models" committee chairperson. He was assisted by Dr. Joseph P. Sinwell, diocesan director, Providence, Rhode Island; Mr. Ronald L. Pihokker, diocesan director, Newark, New Jersey; Mr. Larry Rilla, diocesan director, Washington, DC; Sandy Gay, diocesan director, Lake Charles, Louisiana; Sr. Marilyn Ellert, OSF, diocesan director, Joliet, Illinois; and Joan Kulik, director of the Institute for Pastoral Ministry, Orange, California.
The department offers the following 5 models as practical examples for catechetical leaders in unpacking and utilizing the Empowering Catechetical Leaders text. Please feel free to duplicate these models.
