These successful programs were showcased at the annual SPICE Conversations in Excellence symposium held at Boston College June 25-27, 2004. The entire procedings, including presentations by keynote speakers and descriptions of the following programs, are published in a book available from NCEA titled Early Childhood Education: Conversations in Excellence.

A key focus is on developmental readiness and an early intervention program that helps parents identify special needs. It has grown to 130 children. Partnerships with community health services, support groups, and parents have enabled it to serve a wide diversity of learning needs. Children are better prepared for school and score higher than average on standardized tests in all grades.
