A SPICE 2005 Program

The Nativity Miguel School Model — Foundation for Success
Nativity Education Centers Network, Inc.

Across the country, the Nativity Miguel Schools are providing hope for over 3,000 middle school students who live in impoverished areas, with 88 percent qualifying for the federal lunch program.
The schools operate under the sponsorship of Catholic religious congregations, dioceses, and lay boards, and typically enroll 15-20 students per grade primarily at the middle level. Most students are performing well below grade level in academic and social skills when they enter.

With a holistic, faith-based educational approach, extended school days, 10 hours in many instances, and year-round programming, the Nativity Miguel schools respond to individual needs and prepare students for success in quality high schools.

Achieving admittance to these programs is significant, given how far these students have come as learners and as young adults.

Approximately 1,000 graduates return during their high school years to receive mentoring and tutoring support. A majority are the first high school graduates in their family.

More than 75 percent of those completing high school in four years go on to college and other higher education studies.
