ESEA Reauthorization

In December, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act was reauthorized and signed by President Obama. It is now known as the Every Child Succeeds Act (ESSA).  There have been significant improvements in the bill, especially to the equitable services provisions that will provide greater benefits for students and teachers in Catholic and other private schools.

The U.S. Department of Education is beginning the rulemaking process to guide the implementation of the law.  The federal programs section of this page has preliminary information about the new law and the provisions impacting Catholic schools. Learn more about ESEA here .
