Student Analytics: Making the Most of Information from Summative Assessments
Wednesday, September 19, 2018
4:00 PM EDT
The assessment of student achievement continues to be a fundamental and significant source of information in our society. While recognizing that achievement data are powerful, we must always guide towards appropriate use and interpretation. Test designers, developers and researchers must balance the complexity of validating assessments while also recognizing that it is the information from assessments that determines the contribution and value to our students, educators and policymakers. It is the translation of test results into usable and accessible information that should drive all test design and development and ultimately impact the appropriate and supported uses of a test. Users of assessment information should be able to use it to the greatest advantage to inform instruction for students.

Box of Joy: A Ministry for Your Whole Community This Advent
September 25, 2018
Gift giving is a wonderful, meaningful part of that experience. Unfortunately, severe poverty deprives many children in developing countries of this joy. Their parents are too poor to provide even one simple Christmas present.
Through Cross Catholic Outreach’s Box of Joy program, you can ensure these children are not deprived of Christmas blessings this year. By packing a Christmas gift box and sponsoring the cost of its shipment, you can deliver a Box of Joy to a child overseas who would otherwise receive nothing. Now is the time to start planning for this Advent ministry designed not only to serve those in need overseas, but to unite your Catholic community.

Civil Dialogue in a Multi-religious Country—Best Practices for Teachers
Monday, October 1, 2018
7:00 PM EDT
The religious landscape in America has shifted dramatically over the past four decades. With these changes and our current contentious political climate, communities have seen a rise in religious intolerance in the form of harassment, bullying, and hate crimes. Schools have not been immune to these incidents and teachers are more and more concerned about how to handle ‘heated’ issues in the classroom. This webinar will provide educators with best practices on how to create a classroom environment where dialogue can happen, how to guide student conversations toward complexity instead of conflict, and how to integrate essential skills of dialogue into lesson plans without taking too much precious time away from daily responsibilities. Join faculty members from the Religious Freedom Center of the Freedom Forum Institute, a nonpartisan national initiative focused on educating the public about the history, meaning, and significance of religious freedom and promoting dialogue and understanding among people of all religions and none. (This is Part I of a three-part series.)
