NCEA and #iGiveCatholic Partner to Support Catholic School Education Nationwide
Catholic schools are invited to kick off the charitable season on December 1, #GivingTuesday.
Arlington, VA – At the Catholic Leadership Summit 2020, the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) announced its partnership with #iGiveCatholic, the U.S. Catholic Church’s Giving Day. NCEA will celebrate this day of giving with Catholic schools in dioceses across the country on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, which is also known as #GivingTuesday, a global day devoted to generosity and kindness.
"We are thrilled to partner with #iGiveCatholic to champion and support Catholic education," said Kathy Mears, NCEA Interim President/CEO. "NCEA’s mission is to strengthen Catholic school communities by providing professional development, formation, leadership and advocacy, and we could not think of a better way to do that than through joining the #iGiveCatholic Giving Day."
NCEA partners with #iGiveCatholic thanks to generous support from Foundations and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities (FADICA).
NCEA invites and encourages all Catholic schools to take part in #iGiveCatholic, whether or not their dioceses are participating. Those schools in already participating dioceses should register through their dioceses’ landing page. Those schools whose dioceses are not participating in #iGiveCatholic are eligible to register for a profile on the NCEA landing page.
"It is such an honor to have NCEA join #iGiveCatholic," says national program director Julie Kenny. "We have been inspired by the generosity of our Catholic communities, and we know that through our partnership with NCEA we will be able to impact and strengthen Catholic schools across the country."
Giving Tuesday is the newest fundraising tool NCEA offers its membership. The Many Gifts, One Nation: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools, February 2, during Catholic Schools Week, is in its fourth year, thanks to the unmatched support of FACTS. This 24-hour fundraising event impacts Catholic education in ways big and small inviting local level donations as well as nationwide contributions.
All schools are encouraged to act quickly as registration to have an #iGiveCatholic profile on NCEA’s landing page is open from October 16 through October 30. Giving begins on November 16 and runs through the giving day, December 1.
Established in 2015, #iGiveCatholic has grown to yield great national impact. Last year alone, #iGiveCatholic raised more than $7.6 million from more than 22,300 online donors to support schools, parishes, and nonprofit ministries in dioceses across the country. Now in the sixth year of the initiative, 40 dioceses and several national ministries have signed on to celebrate Catholic generosity.
