Why Attend & Seminar Description
The 2019 Visions for Excellence Early Childhood Education Seminar will provide top-level education to early childhood teachers, elementary school leaders, early childhood center leaders and diocesan leaders on how high quality early learning programs can positively impact the young child's faith formation and academic success from the very beginning of their Catholic school journey. Attendees will learn how sophisticated early learning programs incorporate developmentally appropriate practice, support mission, promote innovation, build enrollment, engage the parents and develop community. This conference is designed to be collaborative and provide for sharing information and best practices. The seminar consists of professional development sessions, an inspirational keynote and networking opportunities. A continental breakfast and lunch are included.

Exploring Key Issues in Early Childhood and Technology: Evolving Perspectives and Innovative Approaches
Chip Donohue will explore issues and opportunities and separate the myths from the truths about early childhood and technology. He will describe what we know and what we still need to learn and identify what matters most to young children in the digital age. Drawing on the perspectives and approaches on 16 thought leaders, he will connect guidelines, policy statement and research findings with the big ideas and emerging best practices. He will promote a positive media ecology and digital age "wellness" for children, parents, families and educators by focusing intentional and appropriate technology use that supports relationships, social emotional learning and mindful media use by the grown-ups in a young child's life. Learn why digital family engagement matters, how technology can empower parents and caregivers and engage families. Consider the emerging role of media mentors to help young children and their families safely navigate the 21st century.
